Land Acknowledgement


In the Spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, the Children’s Community Network acknowledges with respect that we currently gather, service, and operate in the following :

Elliot Lake

Elliot Lake is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, within lands protected by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.


Espanola

Espanola is the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, descendants of the Ojibwe, Algonquin and Odawa nations, within lands protected by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.


Manitoulin Island

Manitoulin Island is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabek and Odawa peoples, within lands protected by the Manitoulin Island Treaty (45 and 94).


Muskoka

Muskoka is the homeland of the Anishinaabeg/Anishinaabek – Ojibway, Odawa, Chippewa, Algonquin and Potawatomi peoples, within lands protected by the Williams Treaty of 1923, the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850, and the J. Collins land purchase of 1785.


Nipissing

Nipissing is the territory of the Anishinaabeg, specifically the Nipissing and Doki First Nations, within lands protected by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.


Parry Sound

Parry Sound is the homeland of the Anishinaabeg/Anishinaabek – Ojibway, Odawa and Potawatomi peoples, within lands protected by the Williams Treaty of 1923 and the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.


Sault Ste Marie

Sault Ste Marie is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg, specifically the Garden River and Batchewana First Nations and the Metis Nation of Ontario, within lands protected by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.


Sudbury

Sudbury is the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnaabeg, within lands protected by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.


We are thankful to be able to work, live, and play in these territories. This acknowledgment is a declaration of our commitment and responsibility to reconcile the past, to honour and value our relationship with the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island, and to respect their significant historic and contemporary contributions to this land. We are committed to reconciliation, partnership, and enhanced understanding.
