The Support Provider Database facilitates the connection between families of children and youth with disabilities and Direct Support Providers in the Sudbury & Manitoulin region.

A Direct Support Providers is an independent respite provider who has been screened and made available to families through the Support Provider Database. Respite providers may come from a variety of backgrounds, from homemakers and students, to persons with training in nursing, education, child care, recreation, or rehabilitation.

The Support Provider Database aims to register local respite providers who are interested in supporting children and youth to participate fully in their community, assist with life and social skills development, and provide caregiver relief.  Once registered, the provider’s profile is shared with families seeking support.

Direct Support Providers are not employees of the Children’s Community Network.  Payment for respite services are paid directly by the family.

It is the responsibility of the family and the respite provider to determine if they are entering an employer/employee relationship or a contracted service arrangement.

Families are looking for respite providers who:

•  Are reliable and professional and provide  quality support
• Offer safe, stimulating, and recreational support in the family’s home and/or in the community
• Provide support according to the individual’s needs and interests
• Facilitate inclusion and act as a positive role model

In order to register with the Support Provider Database, you must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Provide a clear original Vulnerable Sector Check that is current within 6 months
• Provide a current resume along with a list of 3 professional references
• Complete a screening questionnaire with the Respite Resource Coordinator
• Attend an orientation session

Your completed registration and resume will be received by the Respite Resource Coordinator and you will be contacted.
